Heartbreaking images of a dog mourning the loss of his best doggy friend have gone viral, tugging on heart strings across the country.
Nine-year-old dog Harry spent most of his life sleeping beside his best friend, 15-year-old dog George. But after George became ill and passed away, Harry found it hard to come to terms with his death and still leaves room for him to sleep in bed every night.
The dogs, both Lhasa Apsos breeds, were inseparable and spent most of their time together playing, eating and sleeping on the same bed — even though they had separate beds of their own.
Caitlin Wynn, the owner of the two pups from Glasgow, uploaded a now-viral Tweet showing the space Harry still leaves for George to sleep in, despite him passing away almost a year ago.
The first image shows pup George sleeping in his bed and Harry curled in the corner beside him. The second image shows Harry still in the same corner, even though George is no longer there.
Caitlin's Tweet explained: "I'm full on crying... he always let George sleep there and he died almost a year ago and he still lies there."
After George was sadly diagnosed with kidney failure, he had to be put down. "I slept on the sofa the night before we had George put to sleep to keep him company and Harry was pacing around the room crying, and wouldn’t sleep all night as if he knew something was wrong," Caitlin told The Metro.
"He sleeps on floor to the side of the bed now quite often but I didn’t realise why until I was looking through photos of them both from a year ago and saw the photo I tweeted which made me realise," Caitlin continues.
